Copyright on pictures

The copyright for a picture is easy. At least from where I learned it here in Sweden: the maker of a picture/illustration have the unbreakable, automatic copyright for it. That´s it.

It´s been that way for decades. Every publisher with some routine knows that. Maybe they sometimes takes some risks, but they know it.

I can shoot a picture and distribute it where ever I want to ( Facebook, Twitter, my blog, Site etc ) . If a customer want to use it, they have to buy the right from me to publish it. No matter where I have showed the picture before. It´s easy!

There is a really interesting article on Media Nation about this concerning a picture shot on Haiti during the earthquake.

Well worth the reading!

Command-Option-Shift E…

(PC: Ctrl-Alt-Shift-E) For people living in layers.

It´s the command I tend to forget so often, and that I need so often.

It´s the command to keep all the layers in a Photoshop file and make a merged copy on top of them!

FANTASTIC for all us people living a layered life in Photoshop.

Or  elsewhere…

Food product shots

Every now and then I have the delicious assignment to shot food and products for the food blog “Veckans Middag“. Most often this emanates in a tremendous hunger and a lively salivation. (Wich is good for the teeth my denstist tells me). Here are some pictures newly shot.

Playing with available light only (and some reflectors), outdoors and indoors.

Here Cloetta´s Royal wedding edition chocolate. (The Wedding Chocolate) With blueberries and lingonberries! Among other delicious ingredients! If you happen to see some pieces of chocolate missing in the product shot I know nothing about it!

Gothenburg Motorshow, design of showcase

The past weeks we have been occupied with a nice project for one of our clients, SBM. They´re attending the Gothenburg Motorshow since they sell vehicle related insurances.

We were commissioned to design all the  material for their exhibition. The assignment started with the request for a tiny sketch and grew to a fairly big gig with konceptual sketches, signs, roll ups, project planning, product folders, planning of what would be needed in the showcase, ordering all the material needed and a couple of product shots.

And we were ready in time for the show.

Quite nice! Great fun!

The little heart

Have been working on half strength for a while. Got help on the hospital this week.

Dramatic for me – routine for the surgeon. Found a picture from last autumn I thought was illustrative for this.

CD release – album design.

It´s been a while since I did the design for this CD cover, but finally it´s released. It´s the talented classical musician Anders Danman´s piece of art and I know there has been a bit of difficulties concerning copyrights and titles and so. He has recorded a bunch of Beatles tunes and has given them a classical music way of sound. Album cover is inspired from “Abbey Road” and the album is titled “All you Need – Livre de Clavecin”.

My friend photographer Leif Johansson shot the all the pictures to the album. I was asked to make the design/print originals and I was happy to help.

The album was released worldwide by King Records in Japan last week and is well worth a chech up.

Summer is coming!

Its a long way to the big, red, juicy tomatoes. But the plants are growing well in the soft light from our kitchen window! Nice! Looking forward to see them grow big in the garden! As well as the young plant of rosemary with its sharply shaped leafes.
